CARLOW TOWN SHADE IT!
U11.5 Hurling Division 2.
Carlow Town Hurling Club 2-3; Setanta 1-4.
Our 11.5 Hurling team played away versus our neighbours Carlow town
Hurling Club in the sweltering heat on Friday night, 22nd June.
CTHC got the first score from a free and this was followed by an early
goal from play. Our boys got their first score courtesy of a goal from
Ray McNamara. Shane McCarthy tagged on a point from a free and Shane
Guhry ended the first half from a Setanta point of view with a beautiful
point. CTHC got one more goal just before half time to make the score
CTHC 2-1; Setanta 1-2 at half time.
The second half just brought
two points for each team; CTHC a free and a point from play with Shane
McCarthy scoring a free and point from play for Setanta. At the end,
Setanta were trying desperately to get a goal but invariably he strong
CTHC defense kept them out.
Both teams very exhausted after 50
minutes of so of cracking hurling; the overall assessment from both
sides being that there was little or nothing between both teams. Best
for CTHC were Even English who had Setanta's Dylan McGrath for company
through the match with both boys running themselves into the ground.
Special mention to the CTHC goalkeeper Peter Lynch who pulled about five
cracking saves in the first half to keep CTHC in the match (as if some
of those goals had gone in the result might have been different).
Our next match is at 5pm on Saturday 7th July vs Burren Rangers in the Fighting Cocks.
